Feeling Low, Sad, Agitated After Taking Ramipril. Quit Smoking. Side Effect Of Medicine?

My partners mood seems to have completely changed since taking Ramipril. He is feeling really low, sad and wants to cry but said no point. He has also given up Smoking so I was not sure at first if his agitated manner was due to that. I can not speak to him now as he is so agitated and I just text him to check he is OK and to tell him I Love him. Its awful. He has been taking the tablets and given up smoking for about 7weeks now.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Though medications can be associated with side effects, it is quite possible that his symptoms are related to withdrawal of nicotine since he recently stopped smoking.

Some of the symptoms that can occur with smoking cessation are: anxiety, difficulty concentrating, depression, insomnia, restlessness. These symptoms eventually resolve.
The use of nicotine replacements may help. These can come in various forms such as patches, sprays, gum, inhalors.
There are also medications that can be used for persons trying to stop smoking to help the process.

Ramipril is not normally associated with changes in mood.

He may want to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist if his symptoms continue.

I hope this helps
