Had Anaphylactic Response After Taking UMCKA For Cold. Reason?
I took an non-FDA approved cold remedy today called UMCKA. It is in a liquid form and contains an active ingredient called pelargonium. I have taken the cold remedy in the past with no side effects, but today I had a severe anaphylactic response requiring a hospital visit and steroids and Benadryl. I have been researching this drug online and cannot find one single statement about side effects except that there aren't any that are considered dangerous. Do you have information on this drug? Can you point me to a website where I can find out more about drug studies that have been conducted on this drug? Thank you,
All medications whether traditional or non traditional have to work through some pathway in the body to produce an effect. They must cause some chemical or biological change.
In some cases though there is no initial response to a particular medication, there is a mounting allergic response that can potentially result in an anaphylactic reaction. A person can have an allergic reaction to any medication.
In terms of medical studies: there are a few studies looking at the effectiveness of this medication. These are available if you put UMCKA and medical studies into your search engine.
I hope this helps
