Had Red Rash On Ankle. Leg Is Swollen. Rash Cleared With Cream. No Pain. Cure?

I recently woke up to a red rash on my ankle and above and then during the day the same leg swelled up.As I had been out rambling I thought it might be something to do with where my socks had been.I put some cream on my ankles and after a couple of days the rash dissapeared but my leg is still swollen but does not hurt or hot to the touch.
