Hello, Simple fistula in Ano can be removed by fistulectomy - This operation is done to get rid of the fistula, prevent recurrence, and preserve sphincter function. For a Complex Fistula in Ano, Setons are used. Various materials are used as setons. Cable-Tie setons are commonly used. Because of setons inflammatory reactions are produced in turn leads to fibrosis of the fistula tract After setons patients are reviewed after 72 hrs and followed by once in 15 days for tightening if necessary. Usually the patients are reviewed for 1 yr. Once healed the cable tie will be cut and removed. On an average it takes 3 to 4 months to heal, but followed for 1 year for any fecal incontinence. Best wishes
