Have Heavy Bleeding, Had Ovaries Removed. Abnormal Pap Test And Colposcopy, Had An Ablation. What Is Wrong?
Hi, I am a 52 year old in fairly good shape. I can loose a few pounds but other than that I seem to be healthy. I had an ablation approximately 8 years ago due to very heavy bleeding. I have had an abnormal pap test with a colposcopy to check if there was any concern. My colposcopy turned out fine, and my pap tests have been normal since then. Prior to having the ablation I have had severe abdomonal pain. My family doctor sent me for a Ca125 test and thought that my levels were elevated. My gyno said I shouldn't bee too concerned with the Ca125 test but that I required a hysterectomy but my family doctor said I should have my ovaries removed as well. I'm not sure what to do as I haven't entered into menopause as of yet.
Hello, If you have only had your ovaries removed, you should have entered into surgical menopause. Ovaries are responsible for the secretion of reproductive hormones in the body. Also im not sure why you had the ovaries removed only. In my opinion, a total hysterectomy should have been done. Ca125 levels can increase in several conditions and i wouldnt worry about that.If you have heavy bleeding now, then the cause needs to determined. A DC biopsy is the first step. The final stage of treatment will depend on the biopsy.
