Having Echo Sound In Ear And Cannot Tolerate High Pitch Noises. Feels Comfortable When Cup Ears. Suggest?

I have had 2 incidents where one ear appeared to sound robotic. Almost as if everything had a slight echo to it. Time has passed and it went away on its own. Now I can start to notice several months later how high pitched noises hurt my ears. I ask others if they hurt theirs and they say no. Lastly, when I cup my ears my body feels more comfortable. I can hear things better than ever and focus in on what people say so much more clearer. Any ideas as to what is going on with me?
