Having Loose Motions, Vomiting Sensation. What Can We Do?
Hello doctor. My daughter is having loose motion since yesterday evening, and is continuously going to the latrine, even to late night, and she is having vomiting sensation as well. Should we take her to a doctor now itself, or what else i should do. Kind of panicky. Please advice us doctor. we are in India and it is midnight here.
hi there, for the time being give her plenty of fluids and ors and you may give her an anti-emetic like Ondem if the vomiting is too troublesome. Usually diarrhoeas are self limiting but if she still continues to have them for next 24 hrs then take her to a doctor and get her evaluated for any bacterial infection or amoebiasis. It would be good to get a stool exam done to see for occult blood and ova and cyst. While in India you have to be careful of the water you drink, and do not eat raw vegetables or salads until washed and cut by you. It is safer to consume cooked or steamed food. A shot course of antibiotic like Zanocin-oz twice a day for 5 days will take care of any bacterial or amoebic infection. See that she gets plenty of water or fluid and her urine output is good. Take care.
