Heart Burn, Chest Pain. Feeling Tender Below The Rib Cage. What Is Wrong?

37 yr old female, 5 7 , 190lbs. 2 weeks of on/off chest pain . started with heartburn like burning all the way down throat and into chest. Subsided and returns with a general ache in chest between breasts. Subsided. Today, another quick onset of pain and burning in my chest and very tender just below my ribcage in the center. Seems swollen there. What is wrong with me?

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic

I have read the query and understand your concern. In my opinion, the heart burn, pain below the ribs, burning in the chest most likely suggests gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) also called as acid reflux disease in my opinion..Don't worry,You can try simple measures to reduce the symptoms:

1.Drink plenty of water

2.Avoid oily foodstuffs, caffeine containing products like tea, coffee and aerated drinks.

3.Have light meals at shorter intervals than having heavy meals at long intervals.

4.Fix the timings of your meals especially have food early in the night atleast 1-2 hours before you sleep.Do regular exercise.

5.Quit smoking, alcohol if you consume it

6.I usually advice my patients antacids like tab.pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning before meal to decrease the acid levels.

7.I also suggest you an appointment with a cardiologist to get an ECG and other relevant investigations done according to his opinion to rule out any cardiac cause.

Hope this solves your query.

Kindly rate my answer if you find it useful.Feel free to ask any further any queries.Take care.
