High Pulse Rate, Shaky Feeling, Itchy Rash Behind Ears And Neck. History Of Recently Added Norvasc With Regular Propranolol And Hydrochlorathorizide. Side Effects?

My GP has recently added 5mg norvasc (generic) to my HBP regimen of 120mg propranolol and 50mg of hydrochlorathorizide. I am experiencing high pulse rates when I normally have a very low pulse rate. This is resulting in that shaky feeling you get when your blood suar is low. I am also experiencing a small, itchy rash behind my ears and down my neck. And my skin is just itchy. If these are side effects from the new medicine do they warrant an immediate call and visit to the GP as directed in the pharmacy literature, or more measured actions?

Thank you

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your history is of high blood pressure and taking Amlodipine( Norvasc) and propranolol and hydrochlorothiazide .

Beta blocker causes slow heart rate hence what is the reason of fast heart rate is difficult to say.
if you think low blood sugar is cause then check it as drugs may cause hypoglycemia and fast heart rate as well as shakiness. You can see if it improves after taking sugar. It is not clear that are you a diabetic also.
Propranolol in fact blocks symptoms of hypoglycemia.
If there is itching and condition is alarming then you may want to call and visit your GP.
There is possibility of allergy also.
Please also get checked your blood pressure after drugs and your thyroid functions to rule out overactive thyroid as reason of fast heart rate.

Other causes could be fever, smoking, and anemia.
Please take care

Good Luck
