How Can A Pneumonia Patient Suffering From Stroke Be Treated?

my 96 year old mother is in hospital she cannot swallow after a stroke, she was on a drip and then fed thro a tube in her nose, she has aspirated food she was given orally and now has pneumonia and the feeding tube has been removed and is not going to be reinserted.. how how will she last ?

It looks difficult to say how to feed her further, but through drips some fluid intake can be balance. And have to try giving liquid things oraly if that is not possible then only naso gastric tube has to be given. Age is another factor so that more of experiment can not be done. So just wait for her symptoms to get over with pneumonia and later can be thought for further plan. As per your question treatment for stroke in hospital medical management they will do and as your patient condition get stable physical therapy also should be started gradually. Also oral suctioning can be done for upper respiratory congestion and cleaning things from mouth like sputum and all. Hope you got your answer. Take care
