How Can Itching Lumps All Over The Body Be Treated?
Hello, I fell in a rose bush 2 months ago have been taking prednisone for 2 weeks and now thinking I have Sporotrichosis- I have multiple itch outbursts daily, bumps where I fell, and develop new smaller bumos when scrathing, my dermo did a biopsy today and it will take a month to get results but she believes that is what I have- what can I do to treat this asap?? She is suggesting fungal medicine. I am going to europe for the summer and bummed to have this, as it is a pain to itch daily and awful to be on such heavy fungal meds that can tax your liver- please advise
Hello, Thank you for posting on HCM. The condition you described could possibly be scabies. Its a kind of parasitic infestation caused by a mite. Consult a dermatologist, who would prescribe you oral drugs like ivermectin and antihistaminics. Also, apply a cream containing 5% permethrin, below neck onwards to cover whole body followed by bath in warm water after 8 hours. Do not repeat the same unless advised. Ideally, everyone in the family should be examined and treated in similar way to prevent recurrence. Launder clothes and beddings in warm water. Maintain proper hygiene. Hope this will take care of your issue Thank you Dr Hardik Pitroda
