How Can Memory Loss, Anxiety, Depression And Excessive Anger Be Managed?

My sister, age 70, has become very forgetful, anxious, weepy, suspicious, angry outbursts, and hoarding. She lives alone. I'm afraid she is showing signs of dementia, which our father had before he died at age 78. How should I proceed to get her help ?

Hello,

There are a few possibilities here. She may have dementia, but not necessarily. With other symptoms you mentioned this can also be depression, which may cause dementia. An anxiety disorder may also cause dementia like symptoms. So, I would suggest you should take her to doctor for competing assessment.

There are many reversible causes that can be treated so I suggest an early appointment so that early care could be taken if any reversible cause is there for her symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query.
