How Can Pain In The Right Buttocks After A Fall Be Managed In A 70-year-old?
Hi there, I am 70 years old and am physically fit from exercising, lifting was over my lifetime. This past summer, July or August I fell twice on the same right buttock while cutting grass and moving a sprinkler. The falls were a week apart. It was very painful and is just restricted to the immediate area where I landed. It has not slowed me down with my regular yard work, golfing and lifting weights but the pain has not gone away at all. We just drove down from Canada to Florida, 24 hours and it the pain just killed me even with the heated seats. I did take some pain killers and my wife shared the driving. I have no pain in bed or in a lazy boy chair, only when I put weight on that right hand side. I do not want to take medication if at all possible. Any suggestions while we are in Florida for 6 months. Karl

How Can Pain In The Right Buttocks After A Fall Be Managed In A 70-year-old?
Hello, As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads will also help. In case of severe pain, unable to walk then she may require MRI hip after orthopedician consultation. In that case kindly rastrict movements. Do regular blood pressure monitoring Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
