How Can Quivering Sensation And Discomfort In The Abdomen Be Manged?

My 84 year old mother has suffered from GI distress for almost 2 years. She has had many tests including colonoscopy, test for gluten intolerance, upper GI. All tests are negative. Here are her symptoms: feeling quivery in her abdomen, feeling bloated, feeling pressure as if she needs to have a BM, pain and discomfort in her abdomen, occasional light nausea. She has changed to lactose free milk and reduced diary products. That seemed to help a little, but the above symptoms are still happening ever day, all day. She takes a half does of Miralax in the morning (sometimes). More recently, she has tried to adhere to a low-fodmap diet. We have only done this for a few days and it seemed to help somewhat. Is there anything she can take over the counter or prescribed to calm down the quivering and discomfort described above?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

After consult your doctor you can take Rabeprazole twice a day, tablet Paracetamol twice a day. Prefer soft, light, bland, vegan diet till possible. Consume more of whole grains, cereals, pulses, legumes, organic fresh fruits. Avoid all oily, spicy, nonveg, hot beverages, junk foods, carbonated drinks. Avoid overeating, prolong fasting. Avoid resting upto 2 hours after meals. Fix your timing of breakfast, lunch, dinner till possible. Avoid late night parties, dinners. Keep the head end of the bed elevated for 30 degrees when resting. Have regular walking in fresh air, exercises, YOGA. Avoid smoking, alcohol if consuming. Avoid stress, anxiety. Manage to have regular sound sleep of 8 hours. Intake of Proton pump inhibitors as omeprazole or pantoprazole on empty stomach 1 hour prior to lunch; antacid syrups as mylanta or others according to the advise of your doctor helps. Keep your BP, blood sugar, cholesterol, body weight under control. Later on may need ultrasound or upper GI endoscopy according to the progress.
