How Can Slight Diarrhea Be Treated?

As soon as I wake up every morning, I have a sudden urge to have a bowel movement- when I do, it is always very loose (but not quite diarrhea). I have to go again 2 or 3 more times each morning, but then am usually fine the rest of the day (with a few exceptions). I feel like this isn't normal, and that I am passing very strange bowel movements- I never have a big solid piece (tmi sorry).

I had a blood test and a fecal occult test a few weeks back that came back negative.

and help/advice on how to fix this is appreciated!

Hello,

Urge to pass motion the moment you wake up and passing loose stools 2-3 times in the morning can be due to many factors:
-Intolerance to some foods and beverages.
-Sub-acute intestinal obstruction,
-Some disease like tuberculosis or so. Hence I would like to advise you the following in such a situation:
-Try to identify the foods and beverages that cause such problems like nuts, wheat and so and stop these altogether.
-Tests of stool for three consecutive days and a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, and probiotics if there is any evidence of infection.
-Avoid stress and anxiety as these are known to increase the speed of passage of food and not allow sufficient absorption to cause loose stools.
-If these things do not help much when the blood tests of pancreatic, liver and thyroid functions and any specific suspected disease.
-Consult a gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination and further tests of colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen to know any specific disease and to be treated accordingly.
-If all the investigations are normal then this may be an IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome and to be treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
