How Can Swelling Around The Knee Post An Injury Be Treated?

I fell and went down real hard on my knee, i have a swollen place that feels hot to touch and i am brused all the way down to my foot and it seems to be going on down. I fell a week ago, my knee is better but i still have a large place on the knee that feels like it has fluid in it, what should i do.......thanks
