How Effective Are Relacore And Oxyelite As Medication For Weight Reduction?

I can not seem to lose weight even after months of exercise and changing my diet. I have given up. My mother has suggested that I try HCG with Relacore and Ive also been reading up on OxyElite, as well. Which of these are more effective? I am 39, female with regularly low blood pressure, always tired, horrible memory, thinning hair...

Hello and welcome to HCM, I realize how frustrating it is to want to lose weight and it just seems so difficult. I hate to disappoint you but Relacore has absolutely no scientific evidence that it causes weight reduction. If you look at the ingredients most are vitamins and herbs - herbs associated with "decreasing cortisol's stress effect" but none of this is proven. Oxyelite is dangerous and has been banned in the United States due to the number of cases of liver failure, strokes, and a long history of problems with the company adhering to safe practices.

Here is a link to a news article about the dangers of Oxyelite:

HCG, also, is not advised. There is no evidence that HCG causes weight loss. It can, however, cause blood clots. The weight loss is caused by the drastically low calories (500 females, males sometime go up to 800) which in turn cause muscle loss (muscle weighs more than fat, yet contains our "power houses" or mitochondria-you don't want to lose those), electrolyte imbalances, and a host of other problems not to mention it doesn't teach you to eat for the rest of your life.

The best answer for weight loss is really a rigorous exercise program with a good multivitamin in the am (thinning hair, etc either nutritional deficiencies or hormonal issue?) and a mediterrean type diet of about 1200 calories.

If you would like a personalized program I highly suggest that you visit with a dietitian. Good luck. Regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
