How Long Do I Have To Take Doxofyline With Romilast Tablets Prescribed For Inhaling Domestic Acid Fumes 3 Years Back?

Three-year back I inhaled domestic acid fumes. I have been under treatment of my physician who has advised me to take doxofyline 1 tab with romilast 10 mg 1 tab daily regularly. How long this needs to be continued. Whenever the season changes I feel uncomfortable like these days during winter. Please advise. Thanks

Dear Mr Malhotra ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Apart from the effect of acid fumes long back, you possibly have also got allergic bronchitis, which is causing seasonal problems with your breathing.

If I were your doctor, I would also advise you for a complete blood count, along with an absolute eosinophil count and a stool test for ova and cyst. Depending on the reports, possibly I would give you a course of diethyl-carbamazepine for twenty one days, and also deworm you. This might give you better relief. Also go for regular steam inhalation daily two to three times a day. Over and above, go for some active breathing exercises depending on your medical fitness for such exercise. With all these efforts, I hope you will get improvement, and gradually you can wean yourself off from your medications under the guidance of your treating doctor, reserving these during the periods of attack.
