How Long Does A Tibial Plateau Fracture Take To Heal?

My husband was diagnosed with a tibial plateau fracture 6 weeks ago. He is in a brace and on crutches now and has a follow up in 3 more days. We have had a family vacation planned before this happened in 8 more days. How long does it take to for it to heal and will he be able to walk when we go on vacation?

Hi,

As the lower limb fracture takes around 6-8 weeks to heal we need to reconfirm with the x-ray post the cast removal. After that he can start weight bearing with grades like 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. This depends upon the orthopedists call based on the X-ray results. Making things hurry can land into early OA in later stages of life.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
