I had a egd and colonoscopy a few days ago. I was diagnosed with duodenitis, diverticulosis, and had a couple polyps they biopsied. I was told to take otc omeprazole and metamucil/fiber in my diet.
My question is this. I don't drink alcohol often. Maybe a couple of times a month tops. After the test they said don't drink any alcohol. Is this something i am going to have to get used to or will it just be for awhile? Is there a said period of time to avoid alcohol?
I have had this problem off and on since last May. I myself thought i had gallbladder problems. All those tests came back fine. Can gallbladder have much/anything to do with this? Since the beginning of this year i have maybe had a couple of weeks without problems/pain with food digestion. There are so many foods i can't eat or couldn't until i started the omeprazole. Here is a short list: coffee, beans of any kind, pork products, beef products, milk products, peanut butter, corn , brocoli, sour cream, lettuce, fish, fried foods, fatty foods.
Not sure if you have all the answers to my question. I do see the doctor again this coming Friday and will try to get some of the answers i don't get here.
