How Should Pancreatitis With Acute Pain Be Treated?
my son who is 25 years old suffering from pancreatitis since last 2013. His treatment is going on. His report was normal in 2012. He is again suffering (GETTING UNBARRABLE PAIN) from the same before one week. he undergone all CT AND MRI and endoscopic test . BUT still not find the solution. now one of the doctor in india advised me to go for ERCP . but i heard MRCP AND ERCP both gives the same results. we have done MRCP and there was no conclusion till now.Kindly give me advice to permanent cure from this desease now.
Welcome to HCM: Sorry about your sons long illness. Please note that chronic pancreatitis can be very troubling, MRCP and ERCP are different in that with ERCP you can provide correction to retrieve stones of correct strictures caused by muscles. The other thing is to make sure that your son does not drink at all, remember even one glass of wine can make the pancreatitis come back. Lastly when all fails, he may have what we call autoimmune pancreatitis and the test of choice is a blood test for IgG4. Now if it is truly autoimmune pancreatitis, then steroids will curb the symptoms and cure rates have been reported. I hope this sheds some light, good luck.
