How To Cure A Large Bump In The Middle Of Shin Region?

My tibula and fibula was broken in March 20th 2010 and the rod and five scews were removed on March 17th 2011. I have a large bump in the middle of my shin. It bothers me to look at and also gives me slight pain. Will this large bump ever go away or is it built up bone mass that is showing through my skin?
