Doctor, I am so grateful you are there for our medical worries. I am a female, 63 years old. I have 3 adult children, am married. Have had 3 major operations (removed apendix, removed ovarian cysts, and Ceaserian section for my last child). Have had High Blood pressure for the last 10 years. It is now under control at 130/80 but at times fluctuates. For the last 2 months my feet have been swelling a lot around the knee. Last week was diagnosed having protein in my urine. Is the first time I have been told having protein in my urine. I am disturbed as it is one medical problem after the other. I dont know what next. I was worried of the swelling and now protein in Urine!! How can I get rid of the protein in the u
protein in the urine could be due to multiple reasons, it could be due to urinary tract infection, hypertension, kidney stones, a number of kidney diseases etc. your swelling of the feet could possibly be due to loss of protein, but then again it could be due cardiac and kidney problems aswell. what to do about your urinary protein? well you need to check your urine analysis for amount of protein, and if it's less than 30 then you need not worry much because that's usually due to infection or hypertension. if it's above that, you should consult your physician who will advise a number of tests and imaging studies to find out the cause. once the cause has been established, treatment is aimed at the cause and then with treatment your urinary proteins will hopefully disappear.
