How To Get Rid Of Scar On Face Due To Stitches? Applying Mederma
My 8 yr old daughter hit her face Oma wooden be ch last month and cut her face open right next to her eye. We took her to the emergency room. They said she needed stitches and I asked several times to just do a butterfly w topical glue. I told them I did not want the marks of the stitches on her face. The doctor said it would b ok that it was simple and not to worry. So I stupidly let him do it and as soon as they removed the stiches 5 days later there were clear marks that after 5 weeks have not faxed but look worse. I have covered the scar w a bandaid, SPF and I have used mederma every day at least 3 times and it is there. Not the cut looks like an "H". The mark is right next to her right eye and I feel so guilty to have taken the decision to damage my daughters face even more. What can I do to help the scar go away? Part 2- we had X-rays and nothing was broken but when u tough the skin u can feel an indentation from the scar down to about an inch from where she was injured. It has been 5 weeks... Is this normal. What can I do?
Hi Thanks for writing to health care magic. Lacerated wound needs stitches. If not wound will not heal and there is chance of wound infection. Some scar tissue will disappear over few months. You can try some vit e or aloe Vera oinments which should help. The indendation means that injury wad deep enough to warrant stitches. Regards Dr Arun
