I have a bit of a rash because I shaved the edges of my pubic hairs a few days back. Now I have a small rash on the upper edges. I ve been putting hydrocortisone, Neosporin, powdering with Mexicana cornstarch. It doesn t seem to be getting worse or better. Any suggestions?
I would like to rule out a possibility of Tinea/fungal infection, as a cause for the rashes.
I would suggest that you get a KOH scraping for a confirmatory diagnosis. If it comes out to be positive, you could use a topical antifungal cream e.g clotrimazole cream twice daily for 2-4 weeks.
An oral antifungal e.g fluconazole 150 mg once weekly would also be advisable for a fungal infection.
Another possibility is, Allergic contact dermatitis to perhaps shaving cream, which can be taken care of by using a topical mid -potent steroid twice daily.
An OTC antihistimone e.g cetrizine once daily would help you symptomatically with the itch.
regards
