Dietitian & Nutritionist 's  Response
Welcome to HCM,
The misunderstanding here is that if your thyroid is underactive then it is not being treated with the right dosage or the right medication. It is no longer underactive if properly treated. Also, I suggest that your thyrotropin be checked.

In my opinion, I would refer you to an endocrinologist for a full workup on your hormone levels for a second opinion on the extent of radiological damage to your thyroid and second, to a qualified Dietitian who can get you on the right road to correct portion sizes, foods to eat, meal plans to increase and maximize your basal metabolism for fastest weight loss and guide you on the type of exercise you need for your weight loss goals.

Good luck and kind regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
