How To Overcome Fever, Diarrhea And Hurting In Tongue?

2 yr old son has fever diarrhea and been complaining that his tongue hurts. Started with the tongue complaints previous 2 days (thought maybe he just bit it) last night spiked high fever was able to bring it down with children's ibuprofen, diarrhea present today. Also wondering if complaining that his mouth tastes yucky could be connected- in the last week has not said this however the week before at least once every day he complained that his mouth taste yucky no pattern to it what so ever. Meaning not just when he woke up or after he'd eaten or had anything to drink, it was completely random.
Advice and or info much appreciated!

Hi Concerned mama,

According to the medical data of your son that you have provided, it might be a viral infection. At the beginning, it started with sore throat and tongue complaints, then, running fever and diarrhea.

I suggest to

- monitor his temperature
- use paracetamol or ibuprofen syrup for three consequtive days every 6 hours
- give tasectan and probiotics for diarrhea
- give oral rehydration salts to prevent dehydration
- if the mouth is still yucky, keep good hygiene of mouth, use oral antiseptics (I usually recommend blue methylen)
- do not force him to eat solids
- do not give spicy, carbonated or citrus drinks to him (as his mouth hurts)

If no improvement within a couple of days (especially if your son is not taking enough fluids), I suggest to send him to ER to take fluids intravenous.

All the best!
