How To Treat 2 Wks Of Diarrhea, Tiredness And Stomach Pain Preceded By 5 Months Of Bloating?

I have had diarrhea for over two weeks, we were in Mexico but no one else in my house is having symptoms. I am beyond tired and have stomach pains. I have had bloating for about 5 months, but no diarrhea until now. I am rarely ill and I feel very I'll. I've been taking pepto drinking ginger ale, cups of tea, boost anything to get nutrition. I went to the hospital on Monday after over a week with this, they gave me IV fluids because I was extremely dehydrated. I'm out of bed only to run to the bathroom, I'm exhausted. Please do you have any advice, I'm not sure whether to back to the hospital. Thankyou for your help

I am so sorry to hear about this persistent diarrhea and all the inconveniences it has caused you. There are a number of causes of chronic diarrhea. Some include infections, celiac disease, tropical sprue, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. This would required a meticulous examination and investigations to establish the cause and treat accordingly. There are medications that can make the frequency of diarrhea better but I would not be recommending that at this time. The best thing to do is to return to the hospital. Get consulted and fully evaluated by a gastroenterologist and you would be completely taken care of.
