How To Treat A Child For Cough, Noisy Breathing And Sleeplessness?
Dear Sir,
my son is 3 years old( on month still to complete three yrs) and he is getting cough very frequently. symptoms are noisy breathing,sound while coughing,sleep disorder,. Doctor has prescribed, azithromycin, levolin syrup but coughing increased as around 3.5 ml of syrup was given at night. Afterward around 3.5 ml of alreid(cetrizine) syrup was given which gave him some relief. Another doctor has prescribed doxofyline syrup. Kindly adivse what to do in this case as child 2days earlier was having solid stools with little mucus.One week back he was treated for high fever through Augpen( Combination of amoxicilin & potassium clavunate) & P250. we are worried about his frequent illness.

Your son is having cough with expectoration. The child must have been imunised against pertusis. Now you have changed two antibiotics. Ezythrocin and augmentin. Both are effective in upper respiratory tract infection. I hope the treating doctor must have auscultate his lungs field. The child can have a routine blood test. Mauntoux test can also be done. If every test is normal then stop all antibiotic. Give protien rich food and fresh fruits to increase the imunity of the child. He will improve.
