How To Treat Pain And Soreness In Knee Due To Injury?

I fell down while playing badminton and hit my right knee hard on the ground. at first i did not feel any pain but after a few days, the area below the patella started feeling pain and soreness. the pain and soreness occurs when i put pressure on my right knee or when i am trying to straighten it. also whenever i play badminton for too long now that area starts to swell up. what do i do ?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
If you developed swelling then you need to consult nearby orthopaedic doctor to rule-out any bony or ligament / meniscal injury inside knee.
If you did not develop any swelling then its mostly a non-serious thing : Use crepe bandage, give rest to the knee for a week or 10 days by using knee brace or knee cap.
Persistent pain warrants examination & consultation by orthopaedic doctor.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
