Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 1 month old. He was induced at 37.1 week because i developed pre e. He spent 1 week in the nicu for transitioning issue...blood sugar, body temp, apnea. While in the nicu he developed an uclerated rash. A week after going home he developed an perianal abscess. It formed a head and drained on its own. Because his age i was nervous about this and went to the ER and he was admitted on IV Keflex and Clindomyacin. He was discharged and 4 days later his abscess formed another head from the original site. What do you recommend? We have been doing 5 warm baths soaks a day, frequent diaper changes. He doesn't seem bothered by this, this time around. Eating well, wet diapers, no fever,.....can be a little fussier but is consolable.
Thanks for the query. It is a case of recurent abscess, i would like to ask you to complete the course of antibiotics like amoxycillin or cefadroxil. If it recurring then pus culture is the good option to treat it properly. Hope i helped you.
