How To Treat Severe Pain In Spine Due To Spondylosis? What Does X-ray Report Suggest?
my mother is 54 years old and she is diabetic, since some days she's experiencing extreme pain in her spine. we did the x-ray and the report says this : There is early lumbar spondylosis from L3 to L4 vertebrae with an underlying back muscle spasm. There is a reduction in the L5-S1 intervetebral disc spaces suggestive of a disc prolapse.
what does this mean ? what are the treatments ? is this really serious problem ? i am really confused please help me!
The vertical bones in our back is called vertebra. it is divided into 5 types, namely 1.cervical 2. thoracic 3. lumbar 4. sacral and 5.coccyx. they are total 33 in number. they maintain regular space in between them. through this space multiple nerves are emerged. there is also many disc between any 2 vertebra. The space between 2 vertebra through which nerves are emerged are called intervertebral space. if this space become diminish, then nerves in between this are compressed. then the compressed nerves supplying the muscles are under stress, causing pain and spasm. treatment;- avoid heavy exercise, avoid lifting heavy weight, back spinal exercise, belt in heavy pain, warm compression, drug for muscle relaxant, topical MR+analgesic gel, amitryptalline, methylcobalamine for radiating pain. it is not life threatning like heart attack, but morbidity increased in untreated patient.
X-ray suggests It is iñ the early stage of the diesease. At present conservative treatment like LS belt absolute bed rest for two to three days.physiothearpy (IFT) Tab flexon -MR one tab twice a day. If severe pain gabapen tab need to be taken. It is not a serious problem but you need take care by above mentioned need to be followed
