Severe Pain In Back Of Head Spreading To Middle Of Spine. Slight Giddiness. X-ray Shows Spondylosis. Concerned?
hi doctor, i am 50 years old and having severe pain at the back of my head(where the skull and spine joins) and spreads to the middle of my spine and the entire skull . at times i am having slight giddiness. of course my ex-ray report says that i have spondylosis. is it a cause for concern or will it be due to spondylosis only?
Thanks for seeking our advice on iCliniq. Spondylosis of the cervical spine (in the neck region) is a common condition in the middle age group. In most cases, it is part of ageing process due to age-related degeneration of spinal bones.
Slight momentary giddiness is also common in the presence of spondylosis. There is no cause of concern. Passive neck exercises in all directions, if done daily, can improve your problems to some extent. However, if you feel that there are abnormal sensations/weakness in the arms, consult an orthopaedic surgeon, who may prescribe use of cervical collar if need be.
Please feel free to revert back to me in case of any further query.
Have a nice day.
