You may qualify for Social Security disability benefits. Your impairments have to render you unable to do any type of work. The fact that you may be unable to perform the duties of your regular employment will not, by itself, qualify you to recieve SS disability benefits. This is an important factor because the Social Security Administration will look at what you "can" do as well as what you "can't" do. If you go into it saying well i could do a light job, if I could find one, you are essentially telling them that you are not disabled under their rules. You have to have a disability or combination of impairments that prevent you from doing any type of work. All that being said, how your hypertension, diabetes and spinal problems effect you (symptoms you experience that effect your ability to work) will determine whether you qualify. Make a list of all of your symptoms and keep a diary of symptoms. Be sure and report them to your doctor at every visit and don't forget to report any side effects of any medication you are taking, because this will be considered as well. Hope this helps. Good luck,
