I have recently been diagnosed with Diverticulitis: Hiatus Hernia: Gallstones: Duodenitis & a cyst in my left Kidney . I am 70yr old female and have a lump like fatty tissue just above my waist (left side). am in dreadful burning pain in my left side and round my back and am so worried. My bloods were all ok and I am now on Lansoprozole for acid reflux . my doctor really has no idea which ailment is causing this and put me on Cipro antibiotics in case I had a kidney infection

Hi. If you have solitary renal cyst then they are generally clinically insignificant. However if it is multiple renal cysts then sometimes it leads to flank pain also infections might be the cause If you have not done an ultrasound abdomen or CT scan, then it is advisable and also please consult your urologist. You have been prescribed Ciprofloxacin to prevent worsening of renal infection.

Thank you, I have had CT Scan, Endoscopy & Sigmoidoscopy. There is only one Kidney Cyst which my Urologist is not worried about. It is the Hiatus Hernia and Gallstones and Diverticulitis I am very worried about because I am in so much pain & swelling in my left side around my waist area.
General & Family Physician Dr. Gautam Das's  Response
The Hiatus Hernia, Gallstones and Diverticulitis would be needing surgical management as it might cause complication in the long run. You should consult a surgeon too so that these conditions can be assessed properly and the needful can be done on the earliest.
