Infant. Slight Swelling And Fever After Taking First Course Of Dtp Painless Vaccination. Is Painless Vaccination Advisable?

Hello Doctor:

My name is Shwetha. I have a daughter who is a month and a half old . 12th September 2013 born.
Its her first course of dtp vaccination slong with other vaccination. As advised I went for a painless injection. How ever she had slight swelling and fever and cried for few hours. As per told by the doctor the symptoms did appear. Does infants actually feel so much pain even in painless vaccination ?
My concern is: how do I differentiate painless n painful vaccination. And which one is advisable. Painless or painful.. kindly educate me on this.

Hi,thank you for your question to HCM.Actually,the pertussis component particularly whole cell variety gives complications like high fever,pain,swelling sometimes,very rarely convulsions to the recipient and hence it is opted to prefer Acellular pertussis variety in the DPT,which may not produce the complications,enlisted,even if it causes,these will be very mild fever,pain,swelling which may be treated with simple Paracetamol orally.
