Infant Has Yeast Rash, Red Bumps On Thigh And Vaginal Area. Taken Nystatin. What Could Be Wrong?

I have twin babies. They are 18 months old. The boy had what we thought was a yeast rash over 3 weeks ago. After Nystatin didn't work, we tried oral medication and a different diaper cream. It seemed to clear it up, but now there are red bumps on his inner thighs and the girl now has mosquito like bumps on her inner thighs and vaginal area. What could this be?

hi,
are you living in a hot and humid atmosphere?if so get airation to the children.
it is probably eczema or diaper rash. continue use of some happynap ointment.

use seperate soaps, towels and change the diapers every two hourly.
use ointments rich in camphore .keep good hygiene in and around the children.

it is good to have some multivitamin drops for both orally.

thank u

Pediatrician Dr. Taher Y Kagalwala's  Response
Dear user,

These could be remnants of the fungal infection that your babies had. You might want to apply some other antifungal cream such as that which has clotrimazole, miconazole or a mix of an antifungal cream and a mild steroid so that the rash clears up faster.
