Infant Having Pyloric Stenosis, Redness Around Nipple With Lump Underneath, Doctor Commented Child Will Grow Out Of It. Possible?
Hello, Took my three month old to the doctor and was told he has pyloric stenosis ...referred me to a specialist but told me that my son would grow out of it, is that possible? Today I noticed redness around his right nipple and there seems to be a little lump underneath. Can you please clarify these things for me? Thank you for your time.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic Redness around the right nipple and lump suggests infection It requires antibiotic for 5 days Congeital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis starts after 3 weeks of birth with projectile vomiting soon after feeding and visible peristalsis and a palpable tumor once the diagnosis is confirmed the treatment is surgical if you do not treat upto 3 months there is dehydration and failure to thrive Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
