Infant Recovering From Rosella And Red Rash On The Groin And Inner Thighs. Using Antifungal Cream. Problem?

My 7month old son who still recovering from rosella has now got a red rash on his groin, inner thighs and starting to spread. It has what looks like little blisters and its a little swollen. Nappy rash cream and antifungal cream seems to be feeding it. It started off small and has spread and he's had it for about a week. Any ideas on what it might be and how to treat it?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern but seeing the limitation of this platform it is very difficult to give any guidance on the rash without having a clinical look at it. I suggest that you consult your doctor or a dermatologist for it.

As antifungal cream is not having any effect it is better to leave the area exposed and dry instead of using a diaper.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

There could be various causes for that rash. It could be a fungal infection. But you are mentioning that anti fungals are of no use.
Bacterial infections could be other cause. Only a physical examination will help to identify the cause. Since there is no improvement in one week I feel you should consult your doctor for the same.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Welcome to HealthCare Magic
Hope you are doing good. Roseola is a generally mild infection that usually affects children between 6 months and 3 years of age.The most common cause of roseola is the human herpes virus. Once the fever subsides, a rash typically appears . The rash consists of many small pink spots or patches.

The roseola fever can be managed with acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) or sponge baths. Antibiotics aren't effective in treating viral illnesses .The roseola rash will go away without medical treatment.

You should follow up your local Pediatrician if:
Your child's rash gets worse.
Symptoms become so uncomfortable that your child cannot tolerate them.
A new rash continues longer than 1 week.
Your child's symptoms become more severe or more frequent.

I hope have have answered your Query. Feel free to ask if you have any query. Wish your son good health. Regards

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

This rash is looking like dermatitis such as nappy rash or yeast infection or contact dermatitis.

Allergic rash also presents in similar fashion, but blisters are uncommon in allergic rash.

I advise you to consult the pediatrician for the physical examination of rash.
Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
