Infant With Rshes And Fever. Diagnosed With Mild Thrombocytopenia And Chicken Pox. Giving Zoverax. Second Opinion?

hi baby is 1 year and nine months old.she has mild fever for 2 days,then after the fever have subside a rashes came red and dark color in her lower extremites and some part of her body.then i brought her to pediatrician . cbc was ordered plt 703, wbc 8.90.hgb 12.4,neu 32.0,lym 58.2,mono 7.4,hct 35.2,mcv 71.7.mch25.3. then pedia diagnosed as chicken pox and said with mild thrombocytopenia.he gave zoverax surup 3ml/four times a day,please i need second opinion.thanks

In chicken pox there is a characteristic pattern of rashes and it is easy to diagnose clinically. Fever with rash on first or second day with mild decrease in platelet and predominant lymphocyte, all this goes in favour of chicken pox.
Antiviral treatment started in initial 72 hrs of rash decreases the severity of skin lesions and complications.
So I will suggest you to continue the same and maintain proper hygiene to prevent infection in skin lesions. Repeat platelet count after one week to monitor the platelet count. Be watchful for bleeding from any site.
