Hi,
Breastfeeding acts as a natural contraceptive in majority of the cases after delivery as the hormones released during breast feeding inhibit ovulation. Since you got pregnancy excluded by your doctor, there is no need for worry. The hormonal pattern may take time to get back to the normal track. Yet, if you do not want another pregnancy right now, do not bank on this fact alone. Choose a contraception that suits you as early as possible with your doctor's advice. It is possible for lactation and menstruation to occur simultaneously and pregnancy to occur after delivery even without a period. Milk production will decline gradually since you stopped feeding and if it does not, you may try strapping for some days. Wish you good health.
