Irregular Period, Painful Abdomen. Why?

I m a 17 year old female and I started getting my period in the 6th grade. Up until recently my periods have been regular and only lasted about 3 days. Over this last year or so my periods have become unbearable and irregular. The flow normally lasts about 3 days but within the next few weeks it will sometimes start up again only lasting about a day or two. Also it hurts incredibly bad in my abdomen whenever I use the bathroom. Please help?!

Hi thanks for the query.

Period patterns usually change with age. As you told, you have mild intermenstrual bleeding for a day or two, this is most probably ovulatory bleeding. Initial cycles are usually anovulatory and ovulation starts after a few years of menarche. So, you received this bleeding now.

This pain with periods can occur. If uterus is not having any pathology as per USG report, you can take mefenemic acid tablets to relieve the pain

Hope this information is helpful and informative to you.
