Is Provera Safe Medication For Light And Long Periods After Stopping Birth Control Pills?

My doctor wants to prescribe me Provera 10mg for ten days since my periods have been very light and long sometimes going on for about two weeks. I stopped the birth control pill in june and prior to being on the pill I have had normal periods. Should I be concerned about other issues? I am sensitive to hormones so I am very worried about the side effects of Provera.

Hi,

This is a pretty standard way to reset the cycles. It is pretty safe. There is some increased risk of blood clots with most hormones and it is supposed to stop the cycle and restart it. But, it's pretty safe and this is a standard treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
