Hi my grandfather was admitted in the hospital for hypertension n he is a know case of obesity taking atrovas 40mg at the time of admission his CPK level was 932 so the doctor changed the medicine to storvas40mg I just wanted to know whether this is a safe medicine considering such high CPK level thank
Hello and thank you for your question. Sometimes taking a statin drug can cause muscle damage resulting in elevated CPK levels. Storvas is also a statin drug. Usually statin drugs are not restarted until the CPK level has gone back to normal. They if they feel that they are really needed, they are started back at a very low dose. Most doctors would recommend not starting back a statin until the CPK levels return to normal. Thank you for using HCM.
