It seems that your doctor has NOT given Wysolone for long term. He/she has given it only for ten days while awaiting results of blood tests. Wysolone is steroid. Its use can be life saving. It is usually not prescribed for long term but in certain situations (such as autoimmune disorders) it may be needed for long period. Often when using it for shorter period, Doctors start it at a high dose and then taper it and stop it as early as possible. When you visit your doctor next time, ask him politely how Wysolone will help your father, how long should it be given and whether you should worry about side effects. I hope this answers your question.
