Is Abdominal Bulge From Belly Button Upto The Breastbone Ventral Hernia Or Diastasis Recti ?
I have an abdominal bulge which is approx. 12 cm/5.5 in. long, from the belly button up to the breastbone. it comes up whenever I get up from a bed or couch. Not visible while standing. The width of the ridge is approx. 1 in. There is no pain with it - the only slight pain I get is in my belly button; when I get up, I can feel something like a cord if I press down. Lying down, this is not here. Is this a ventral hernia, or diastasis recti? The bulge comes up and goes down totally when I stand up. No pain or sensitivity to the touch. What is it? I recently turned 58.
Hi, From history it seems that you might be having hernia or lax and weak abdominal recti muscles giving protrusion while getting up or standing. This might be pre-stage of forming hernia. Consult surgeon and get examined. Avoid constipation, cough or lifting heavy weight. Do abdominal recti muscle exercise daily. Ok and take care.
