Is Blood Sugar Problem Normal After Receiving Cortizone Shot?

I received a cortizone shot in both knees six weeks ago. I am having blood sugar and blood pressure problems since then. I just got out of the emergency room with bp of 186/121. I felt like I was going to faint. I feel light headed all the time. Please, what can I do?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Normally the steroid is injected into the joint and there should be little effect on blood sugar or blood pressure because it is not systemically absorbed.
If some of the medication was injected into surrounding tissues then an effect an occur.

In many cases this effect can last up to 3 weeks, it is unusual for it to last up to 6 weeks though every one is different.

You may want to visit your doctor for an assessment to if there are any other causes for your increase readings and if not, for medication to temporarily control the values.

I hope this helps
