Is Fever While Suffering From Chronic Diarrhea And Anal Fissure A Matter Of Concern?

I had a bowel resection when I was a baby due to intussusception. I have had chronic diarrhea since then. I take Questran daily to control it. It works most of the time but I still get anal fissures once in a while. I have one now that is healing but I have a fever of 99.5. Is this something to worry about or should I just take some Tylenol.

Hi,

Fever with diarrhea may be due to bacillary dysentery or enteric fever. The anal fissure you are having may not be related to fever unless it is infected.

You may use daily sitz bath regularly. Use tablet Sporulac and tablet Ofloxacin + Ornidazole.

Keep stools soft regularly and use Diltiazem cream locally to relieve anal sphincter spasm.

If symptoms not improved please consult your physician/surgeon, they will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
