Is Having Pins And Needles On Right Leg A Serious Condition?

I have pins and needles on my right leg this morning, I have seen a doctor yesterday and have been advised to rest. I have been booked Friday morning for an x-ray on hernia. Is this serious condition what I am experiencing? or I have nothing to be concerned about.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Presence of pins and needles in any area over the body indicates a pinched nerve supplying that particular area. It might be transient and may resolve spontaneously. If it is persisting, then a detailed evaluation is necessary to rule out any major nerve problem.

Nerve conduction studies and MRI scan of the lumbar spine are necessary to establish a correct diagnosis.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
