hello fleharty,

from what you are saying what your kid has looks like a birth mark or a haemangioma.
but this can be ascertained only after looking at the bruise.
birth marks are common in children upto 2 to 5 years of age. some grow smaller and some disappear totally.
so i would advise you to consult a pediatrician and get the diagnosis confirmed.
